
Catherine Ruane (drawing and painting) grew up in Southern California in the farming area of the Imperial Valley in an area full of tomato fields and grooves of orange and palm trees. Her formal training as an artist began at San Diego State University where she earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees. A year later, Catherine was studying Renaissance art in Florence, Italy where she pursued training in hand-pulled etchings. Upon her her return to the states, she finished graduate school earning a second Master of Fine Arts degree at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.
Catherine's career as an artist took her to Hawaii where she was included as a gallery artist for Wyland Galleries. She worked with the art publisher Grand Image in Seattle as well as American Design in Colorado. In addition, she teaches drawing and painting at Paradise Valley Community College. Catherine lives with her husband and two sons in Buckeye, AZ where she maintains her studio, creating large drawings and paintings for exhibitions throughout the country. Her work has been included in many corporate collections ( Wells Fargo Bank, Disney, Sony, British Motor Works, Citibank, Fox Studios, IBM, Turner Broadcasting, and many more) and has been featured in local juried exhibitions (Tempe Center for the Arts, West Valley Art Museum, Shemer Art Center and Museum, Burton Barr Central Library and the Herberger Theater Art Gallery.
